A Yass, family-owned, funeral company has a vacancy for a casual Funeral Directors Assistant/Mortuary Assistant. This casual position will suit a person with little or no previous knowledge of the funeral profession. Experienced individuals are also welcome to apply.
The role involves, but is not limited to:
- Assisting with the transfer of deceased persons
- Providing mortuary assistance
- Learning to prepare the deceased for viewing and funeral purposes.
- Trimming and preparing caskets
- Assisting Funeral Directors at funeral services, including audio and visual set-up.
- Cleaning hearses and transfer vehicles
- General assistance around the funeral home
- Some administration duties
The successful candidate will possess all of the following:
- A sensible, good-natured person with a high level of fitness and ability to work in a team environment.
- Mature and caring outlook, with a sense of community and a focus on customer service.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, especially with the elderly members of the community.
- A full, clean open driver’s licence, manual preferred
- Be a committed team player
- The ability and availability to work weekdays, weekends and after-hours by prior agreement.
- The ability to work professionally with a wide variety of people and cultures, showing respect and empathy.
The successful candidate will be required to undergo our pre-employment process, which includes an agreement to a Police Check, and a full Medical Disclosure.
